More About Pulaski Pulaski is a pretty village located in the Town of Richland, east of Lake Ontario in northern New York. The village is known for several things - particularly salmon fishing and snow. It is touted as a four-season destination, with snowmobiling and skiing in the winter; outdoor activities like hiking, biking, boating, swimming in the summer; fishing and "leaf peeping" in the fall. And spring is just plain beautiful. The Seaway Trail Associations says The Pulaski Village Historics District "contains one of the most intact clusters of 19th and early 20th century residential and commercial buildings in northern New York. The boundaries are almost the same as the local militia drill field that originally occupied the area. The district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places." Downtown is picturesque, with flowers and buried powerlines. At either end of the historic district, there's a small village park. The H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse, built in 1819 sits stately on the southern part of the village. Pulaski is fortunate to be surrounded by many natural features. To the west is Lake Ontario, a body of water with several state parks and unrivaled sunsets. To the north, Sandy Pond offers boating opportunities and Sandy Island Beach. East of Pulaski, in Orwell, the majestic Salmon River Falls empties from the Salmon River Reservior. And of course, the Salmon River winds right through Pulaski. |
